It’s hardly visible from the outside, perfectly integrated into nature – the oval structure with its domed ceiling is located within walking distance from Oberlech, on the “Tannegg” alp, just above the Schloßkopfbahn summit station. A cultural highlight that “draws the sky down to ceiling level” is what the creator, American artist James Turrell, said when the light installation was first inaugurated. The “sensing room” – an elliptical space that can be reached through a 15-metre tunnel – gives visitors the opportunity to not just admire the sky in all its changeability through an opening in the domed ceiling but also experience all the colours of the rising or setting sun.
