Tucked away between Getreidegasse and Karajan square pictures will find a place of refuge: Die Blaue Gans is Salzburg’s oldest inn and at the same time it also is the city’s only Arthotel. Design, individual style and more than 120 works of art have made this place unique since its careful renovation by owner Andreas Gfrerer. Guests can now choose between several restaurants: during the cold season the historic Gewölbe-Saal with its vaulted ceiling is particularly cosy.
The modern and cool brasserie bar on the other hand offers hip metropolitan flair. And the rustic cellar from the 14th century, built from rock hewn from Mönchsberg just across the road, houses the impressive wine archive of 1,500 bottles. Open from noon until midnight; you’ll find delicious snacks, finger food as well as multi-course menus. Cosy wine cellar for groups of 8 up to 60 people.
