In 2014 the Zillertal once more reinforced its leading position in Tyrolean tourism: In comparison with the summer season of 2013, the number of overnight stays increased by 1.2 per cent (Tyrol total: + 0.8%). Also pleasing: The long average length of stays is 5.3 days (Tyrol: 3.9 days).

In November 2014 Thomas Leitner from Fügen presented his new book “Hinaus beim Tal” (“Leaving the valley”). In it he tracks the Zillertaler gold diggers’ traces in the Wild West and tells the story of David Schneeberger as a representative of hundreds of Zillertalers who turned their backs on their home after 1868.
Friendship knows no borders
In September 2014 more
than 870 members of traditional clubs from South Tyrol and their friends
from Zillertal met at the 7th Three-Valley-Meeting in Mayrhofen. Inhabitants of
Ahrntal, Tauferertal and Zillertal meet every five years to march together, to
make music and to celebrate.
“Nature park of the year 2015”
This prize for the High-Alpine Nature Park Zillertaler Alpen that was awarded in November 2014 was a delight for the entire valley!
The independent jury of experts chose the 379 km² part of the landscape that is protected over 8 other candidates from all of Austria.

Ryder-Cup at Zillertal?
As far as Tyrol Marketing and Heinz Schultz who runs the
golf courses in Zillertal are concerned, the world’s best golfers will play in
Uderns for the renowned Ryder-Cup in 2022. The most important team event in
golf takes place every two years – alternately in the US and Europe – attracting
hundreds of thousands of spectators. The decision will be made in autumn on
Alpensound Vol. 6
Musicpark records and the Kristallhütte will once more
produce the soundtrack for the winter season of 2014/2015: Alpine Grooves Vol.
6 contains great sounds from laid-back to deep house for great hut- and
club-feeling. DJ HOODY chose and mixed top artists like Chopstick &
Johnjon, Jay West and the Sirens Of Lesbos.
